30 Stretching Facts! (A short, little writing to read on a busy day)

Recently, I’ve been writing very comprehensive blogs. Today, I’ve decided to try something new. I’ll be presenting to you 30 facts related to this topic! It’ll be nice and short, without having to think much about it. This is perfect if you’re thin on time or you need a little piece of information to make your day more interesting! A lot of these are definitions related that I've redefined into more simpler vocabulary for better understanding!


  1. Muscles protect a joint.

  2. Cartilage absorbs shock and does not have its own blood supply and nerve supply.

  3. Think of coffee as diffusion like cartilage relies on diffusion for blood flow.

  4. The ear is an example of an elastic cartilage; flexible but supportive.

  5. Hyaline Cartilage coats the end of joints, which basically means bone is covered moving without effort.

  6. Fribrosus - cartilage that isn't moving as much.

  7. “Connective tissue is a major determinant of mobility and stability” (Neil Asher Course).

  8. The muscle and bones will not relate to each other if there is no connective tissue.

  9. When there is a contraction of a thick/thin filament (ex. myosin), chemicals released (called a ratchet).

  10. Concentric is a movement of a bicep going up as an example (#10-12). (more force on muscle contraction).

  11. Eccentric is a movement of a bicep going down. (Opposite of a contraction).

  12. Isometric is a movement of a bicep in the middle. (Equal force up and down).

  13. Agonist is most responsible for moving

  14. Antagonist is the opposite of agonist.

  15. Axial - bottom part of the spine doesn't move as much. 

  16. The spine has the greatest motion of flexion (haha, I see how I can do a needle).

  17. Weakness in the core can be figured out if you are able to place your hands on top with your palms completely attached together.

  18. Pronation is where a specific part of your body is navigated towards the midline of your body to the outer position.

  19. supination is where a specific part of your body is navigated towards the midline of your body to the inner position.

  20. The Ligamentum Ligamentum flavum gets overly thick, compresses/narrows the spinal cord.

  21. Your knuckles are an example of synovial joints which have synovial fluid in them.

  22. Condyloid Joint - articulating in two different directions. Ex. Knee.

  23. You are not born with all types of curves in the spine when you’re born.

  24. Bones are known to store calcium (in milk) and minerals

  25. Osteoclasts - breaking down old/unworthy tissue

  26. Osteoblasts - specialize in developing/containing new bone tissue.

  27. The word dorsal refers to back mostly or top.

  28. Cells-Tissues-Organs-Organ System-YOU!

  29. Nervous Tissue - Sends notifications/”signals” with electricity.
