Highlight of the Day! (Real Eperience in a Book)

Today, I was looking at the book "Stretching to Stay Young” by Jessica Mathews. While reading the introduction, I noticed a paragraph in which she was neglecting stretching. I thought this quote from her might make you feel more inspired to add stretching to your workouts :) or even to your daily life, such as going to the store. This quote really indicates how this is an underestimated issue that needs to be fixed.

“As a Physical Education major, group fitness instructor, and personal trainer, I spent most of the early part of my career deepening my understanding of the physical body. I taught an assortment of group cardio classes, including step aerobics and cardio kickboxing, and developed customized resistance-training programs for clients…Although I had learned about flexibility training from books and understood how stretching worked, it wasn’t until I attended my first yoga class that I truly realized just how important flexibility is to overall health and wellness. [Here, think about my Mobility Clinic.] At the time I did mostly cardio and strength-based workouts, as many people do, leaving little to no time for stretching. [Addressing that problem, but being unaware of the outcome]. As I continued to neglect stretching before and after my workouts, I noticed that the high-impact exercise classes I was teaching, not to mention the long hours I spent studying, taking classes, and writing papers, were taking a toll on me and causing a constant feeling of tightness. [This part is the consequence, or the effect if stretching hasn’t been done. Neglecting this results in a decreased action of muscle growth]. I will never forget that first time I stepped foot on my yoga mat and how humbled I was by my extreme lack of flexibility. Let's just say I was far from being able to touch my toes! Once I was stretching regularly; however, I began to move more easily-not just while exercising but in my everyday life as well" (Jessica Mathews).

In addition to this, Jessica found out that continuing to stretch has also gotten rid of many aches and pains she was going through. When stretching has been stopped for a long period of time, your muscles tighten up. Sometimes, you can lose a lot of your flexibility if you stop stretching for an elongated period of time.

Stretching can secretly be a powerful tool of your life. Dealing with stretching everyday can create a life-long impact that you’ve never seen in yourself ever thought of being. You will never expect how just a couple stretching sessions with me can directly impact your life. Stretching is not only for muscle health. It contributes to multiple factors, such as your mental health, stress relief, and really so much more that I’m about to unlock from the world. I hope this quote directly impacted the way you were thinking about stretching. Don’t forget to heart my blog if you learned something new. Thanks to those who have been reading my blogs!
